Hawaii university to unveil online health preparedness suite

June 19 '07: A large partnership of federal, state governments, public health officials in Hawaii, Yale University's School of Medicine, and the University of Hawaii Manoa have announced a continual medical education course for public health officials online, the Honolulu Advertiser reported. The course, Pacific Emergency Management, Preparedness and Response Information Network and Training Services is the first of its kind in the U.S.
According to the Honolulu Advert, the EMPRINTS "features online problem-based teaching cases that take the learner through mock scenarios for potential public health threats. It is the only program in the United State that offers this kind of problem-based training online. The site also includes simulated live training exercises and inks to relevant news articles and additional online disaster preparedness resources."In addition to the website, Pacific EMPRINTS has formed a partnership with healthcare organizations in Hawaii as well as the mainland U.S. as well as with other academic institutions.
