December 7 '06: Residents in an Arizonan county will begin to receive disaster information kits that will provide vital information about contacts, phone numbers, web sites and radio stations, the Eastern Arizona Courier reported Wednesday.
The packets are designed to put important information into the hands of private citizens so that they can prepare their families in case of a disaster, Graham County officials said.More than 10,000 packets were put together and mailed. The packets contain "an emergency reference sheet for household information, including the names and ages of family members, Social Security numbers of each family member, phone numbers and other facts," the Courier reported. The Graham County Board of Supervisors approved the funding for the packets which totaled about $6,700. "Families will find a checklist for emergency supplies for themselves and their pets. The packet also contains valuable information for people with special needs and checklists for electrical, chemical and fire hazards in the home," the Courier reported.
